This training event will explore strategies for producing high-quality, pure, and homogenous recombinant proteins—essential for both structural and functional studies. Aimed at early career researchers, this introductory session is the first in a series of three protein-focused training events organised by the Biochemical Society.
It will cover:
- The latest bioinformatic tools for construct design and protein characterisation
- Practical tips to improve expression, purification, and stability
- Methods for assessing protein quality using biophysical techniques
This training will have a high level of participation including:
- Participants are encouraged to bring their own proteins for analysis using the latest instrumentation and software.
- Poster presentations and oral communications are available at this event. You may simply present your project background with preliminary results or troubleshoot specific protein-related challenges to get feedback from with experts and peers. If you have not yet submitted an abstract for the conference why not do so now? Click here to submit an abstract
Key learning objectives:
- To demonstrate knowledge of the full pathway of protein construct design, expression, purification, and characterisation
- To describe the principles and applications of bioinformatic and biophysical approaches to their research, and to have the opportunity to collect and analyse data on their protein of interest
- To understand how to optimise and evaluate protein expression and purification
