6th UK Workshop on Membrane Proteins

The 6th UK Workshop on Membrane Proteins training event will focus on the function of biological membranes and the biophysical techniques available to study their components in the context of biology and biotechnology. This event will comprise lectures, workshops and laboratory-based practical sessions.

Key learning objectives
To understand the basics of membrane protein purification using cutting edge methods.
To be able to describe the principles and applications of biophysical approaches to studying membrane proteins.
To be able to undertake practical activities to understand membrane proteins.
Attendees should have a basic grasp of membrane protein structure and function and protein biochemistry more widely. No particular practical experience is required, although some lab experience would be beneficial. The practical elements will focus on the use of polymers to extract membrane proteins without the need for classical detergents
